Constructing and Using Rubrics

Constructing and Using Rubrics

Facilitator: Jennifer Boman, Academic Development Centre

Rubrics are scoring tools that identify the criteria for a particular assignment or project.  They can be used to communicate expectations of excellent work to students, to judge student performance, and to provide students with feedback.  In this workshop the key steps in developing rubrics will be outlined and we will discuss some of the benefits and challenges of using rubrics.

You will also have the opportunity to discuss and get feedback on a rubric (or assignment you are considering developing a rubric for) with colleagues. For this purpose, please bring 3 copies of a rubric or assignment to the workshop.
