Teaching cross-cultural competencies: contexts, connections, and complexities

Teaching cross-cultural competencies: contexts, connections, and complexities

When people talk about teaching “cross-cultural competencies” in higher education, what exactly do they mean? Might these ideas, and even the language used to signify them, shift depending on discipline and other contexts? In this workshop, participants will explore varying definitions of cross-cultural competencies and approaches to teaching them. Participants will have an opportunity to adapt strategies to their own contexts and collaborate with others to identify potential challenges and benefits of engaging their students in learning for a global context.
