Faculty Lunch and Learn

Engaging with Community Service Learning (CSL)

Are you interested in the high impact pedagogy of Community Service Learning (CSL)
and looking for some inspiration? Join us!

During this Lunch & Learn, we will share promising practices, teaching tips, and information to help support the structure, delivery, and assessment of CSL based courses, including how to engage with community partners.  Our CSL Facilitator, Christian Cook (General Management & Human Resources), will support an esteemed panel of faculty engaged in Community Service Learning.  Please join Allison Mackenzie (Public Relations), David Hyttenrauch (English, Languages, and Cultures), and Scharie Tavcer (Economics, Justice, and Policy Studies) to learn and share:

  • What to consider when creating and updating your courses using CSL,
  • How to assess student work using CSL (including reflection),
  • What you may expect, and how to encounter challenges, when employing CSL,
  • How to engage community partners with your program, and,
  • The process to designate your CSL course, providing the opportunity for students to achieve the CSL citation on their transcript.

Join us for what promises to be an engaging and informative discussion.

Please feel free to bring your own lunch. Cookies and coffee/tea will be provided.
